Executive Search and Interim Leadership Talent

A year on, and a short thank you to the community that has supported our Executive Search Firm’s launch and growth over the last year.

Over the last 12 months we have seen some clear trends in demand in the board room, not only for substantive permanent appointments. Interim has played a big part in our core services with many clients requiring significant transformation or turnaround in a 12 to 24 months’ timescale.

Regardless of functional responsibility we have seen demand for ‘C’ suite executive directors with vision and understanding of the digital journey many of us find ourselves on in our corporate and domestic lives. In helping our clients understand how to achieve their planned outcomes, we have helped evolved many varied search briefs for board appointments; however, they have all included the same elements and key drivers around user engagement and business process optimisation, such as:

  • Understanding the impact of cost effective digital technologies on customer and employee experience when engaging with the enterprise (both in B2B and B2C markets)
  • Pace and quality of engagement (user experience) with customers and employees
  • Creating understanding and new behaviours ‘top down’, to drive business change in the board room, rather than ‘from’ the board room

the bulk of roles have understandably been in the offices of the CIO, Digital Director, CMO and Transformational HR Director. Interim has also played a large part with clients looking at how they achieve a quick ‘belt and braces’ approach to a Business Transformation or Turn-around agenda, usually through (loosely) three types of interim:

  • Bringing in an experienced proven leader to implement rapid change, strategy, planning and delivery of a new team/structure to execute the plan
  • Taking on a heavy weight proven ‘operator’ to deliver a newly decided strategy
  • A safe pair of hands to run ‘business-as-usual’ or effect significant restructure following the exit of the previous permanent incumbent while a search is underway for the new permanent post holder

There have been other facets to our year, including some non-executive appointments, advisory work, support of early stage consumer technology businesses and an increase in search work for roles with a pan-European responsibility – something we are watching with interest during the current UK debate on European membership.

In 2015, Robert James Raitt & Associates Limited was set up to capitalise on our collective strengths as a Corporate and SME board search firm, based in the UK working across Europe and parts of the US. Although capable and accredited for search work across the portfolio of the board room, demand and our expertise has focuses us on delivering searches for the CIO/CTO, CMO, Digital and HR Director officers where the primary agenda has been for Transformation, Business Change and Turn-around situations.

Why Should Anyone be Led by You?

We all know that leaders need vision and energy. But to be inspirational, leaders need four other qualities. Probably not what you’d expect, these qualities can be honed by almost anyone willing to dig deeply into their true selves.
